Drawings inspired by Jordan's DJ set on 30/01/2021

I miss dancing. I didn't realise how much I missed dancing until I attended a virtual DJ dance set my friend Jordan organised. The ceroc community is a wonderful world to be a part of. Seeing all my friends that I haven't seen and danced with in months was both heart warming and isolating because I got to watch people who lived with other dancers get to dance to the tunes I was so dying to dance to. I decided to channel this energy into some artwork and just paint what the music made me feel. Snapshots of the dancers I was watching mixed with the emotional images I was feeling. I was so engulfed in the music and didn't spend too much time overthinking the works. Just making and making until I felt satisfied that I had released the energy. 

I want to embrace this technique of expressive mark making while also allowing my unconscious to take over.
