Programme Day feedback and reflection
I did my absolute best and only stuttered a couple times so I am counting it as a big win.
Sharing my work on social media and receiving so many encouraging words and inspirational ideas from so many people has made me feel more connected than ever so I shared this presentation on all my platforms for those that would like to read more about it.
I have lots of big things in planning at the moment including investing in a 3.55m wide roll of paper that will allow me to experiment with creating huge monotypes of the dances, doing a full charcoal drawing and performance of the routine on top of it, creating videos of the drawings and dances to illustrate the process better, trialling paint pouring with long tubes attached to my feet while I hold bottles of paint, experimenting with vinyl as a surface to make marks on... The possibilities are really only as big as I can dream.
The feedback on the day was to get in touch with the head of the dance course to discuss using the dance studios to create my work in while potentially filming it with a drone, potentially choreographing a group dance onto a big sheet of paper, or even organising a performance piece of me creating a large line dance live in the atrium of the main Arts and Media university building. I may have to take a little break from posting and making work to focus on getting my deadlines submitted in the next few weeks but I am so excited to have the time to dive into this project head first and see where the journey takes me once they are all submitted.
I thanked everyone that has reached out or shown support for this artistic endeavour. Posting (nearly) everyday has been a challenge that I have managed to sustain for 46 days now and that is pretty awesome in my eyes. Their support has been invaluable to me and I hope my art brings them as much joy as they all bring me.
This link is the most recent development in this project because Barry kindly offered to edit a video of him dancing his line dance and me drawing it together. It was the final thing I showed in my presentation and I look forward to seeing how I can make even better videos in the future with the help of my oh so talented friends.

I love the charcoal ones! really interesting form of
documentation. from a viewer perspective it's interesting to be able to witness
a performance through the traces even without seeing it live. I've thought a
lot before about how mad it would be if you could see all the steps you've ever
taken. this is like the ghost of a dance in a way
